What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an induced state of consciousness that lies somewhere between waking and sleeping. It is generally brought about by the use focused relaxation to create a frame of mind in which a person becomes open to cetain suggestions, agreed upon while that person is in a full waking state. Unlike what is sometimes shown in the media, a person under hypnosis cannot be made to do something against his/her will. Likewise, a person cannot be hypnotized against his/her will.

The light trance state of hypnosis makes it possible to open up and talk to parts of the psyche that have been pushed into the background. It also opens up the possibility of dialogue among the different parts of the personality (ie., the part that wants to lose weight and the part that states, "I'll never give up chocolate!").

How can Hypnosis help me?

Hypnotherapy is a collaboration between the client and the hypnotist about how to solve a problem or simply how to create fuller integration of the client's psyche.

Hypnosis can be uesful in weight loss, smoking cessation, treating phobias and/or addictions, discovering past lives and in getting in touch with and changing unconscious patterns that no longer serve any useful purpose.
